What is TMJ?

TMJ (temporomandibular joints) connects the lower jaw with the skull. They are a pair of joints located in front of each ear, and consist of the mandible (the lower jaw) and the temporal bone (the side and base of the skull).

TMJ disorders are caused by trauma, an improper bite, arthritis or wear and tear. Symptoms include jaw tenderness, headaches, earaches, and facial pain.
