What is K-Laser Therapy?
K-Laser therapy is a state-of-the-art treatment that uses an IV laser to treat pain and inflammation. Also known as High Power Laser Therapy, it uses wavelengths of light to aid in the healing of damaged tissue. It can also be used to reduce pain, swelling, muscle spasms, and general stiffness.
How Does K-Laser Therapy Work?
K-Laser therapy works by using light wavelengths to trigger a reaction that increases circulation and draws oxygen, nutrients, and water to target areas on one’s body where pain is felt. The effects of the laser create an environment that is ideal for the body to mend itself. It is often used by professional sports teams to treat chronic athletic injuries. K-Laser therapy is an FDA-approved treatment that has been used in Europe since at least the 1970s.
What Should I Expect in a K-Laser Therapy Treatment?
If it’s your first experience with K-Laser therapy, it’s understandable to be apprehensive. However, K-Laser sessions are painless and generally very short, lasting only between 3 and 10 minutes.
For some patients with acute ailments, daily K-Laser treatment may be preferred. However, as symptoms improve, the sessions may become less frequent until they are no longer required. Some patients report relief after only one session.
Fortunately, there have traditionally been very few side effects linked to K-Laser Therapy. That being said, some patients do report the reactivation of old pain symptoms, due to the stimulation of muscles. However, this is temporary and will subside after a few days.
What is K-Laser Therapy Used to Treat?
K-Laser therapy is rather dynamic. As a result, it can be used to treat many ailments, including but not limited to:
- Chronic neck and back pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Sciatica
- Acute injuries
- Carpal tunnel, and other repetitive use injuries
- Arthritis
